Protecting Your Debit Card

Keeping the debit card properly is very important for your account security. If your card is lost or card information is leaked out, you may suffer from counterfeiting and even financial losses. Therefore, please pay attention to the following notes when applying for and using the bank cards:

  1. When applying for a bank card, please fill in the application form truthfully and provide your actual personal information and be sure to register your own mobile phone number or frequently used phone number in the bank, and it is recommended that you activate register our SMS Alert Service.

  2. Please sign on the back of the card immediately once receipt of the physical card and ensure that the signature is clear and enduring. Please avoid your card being damp, greasy or chemically corroded. Your signature is very important because merchants and the bank will verify your signature when accepting your bank card.

  3. Please do not give your bank card, card number and ID card/ID information to others for safekeeping. Do not rent or lend your bank card to others.

  4. Bank card, card number, ID card and any medium recording password should be stored separately to prevent the theft of your funds by others in case of simultaneous loss. Do not leave your bank card in public places such as cars or offices, or in checked baggage.

  5. Please take good care of the sales slips, transaction receipts and other documents. Do not reveal the card number, valid thru and other information to strangers or reply to any suspicious email and text messages asking for such information or leave such information on public computers. Do not click on unknown web links or scan suspicious QR codes or enter sensitive information such as bank card numbers.


Protecting Your PIN

Bank card password is a vital instrument for identity verification in the transaction process of self-service channels. A bank card with password leaked is like an unlocked safe. Therefore, please pay special attention to the password setting and storage:

  1. Please do not set passwords that are too simple or related to your personal information and easy to be deciphered by others, such as “123456”, your or your family member’s birthday, ID number, address numbers, telephone numbers, QQ number, etc. 

  2. Please do not use the same password for all services to avoid the theft of the bank card password due to the leakage. It is strongly recommended to set different bank card passwords and online banking passwords.

  3. Please keep your password properly, change it from time to time, and avoid storing your password and other information in networked computers, mobile phones, emails and other places where it can be easily stolen. If you find that the password of the bank card has been leaked or there is a risk of disclosure, please call our customer service hotline 40089 40089 (Chinese mainland)) / +86 755 2583 3688 (Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas) immediately to report the loss of your bank card or to change or reset your password through the Bank’s branches.

  4. Please be reminded that no individual, institution or organization, including our staff, has the right to request your password. You can refuse any attempt to obtain your password, and beware of criminals pretending as bank staff or police to request passwords.


Using ATMs Safely

ATM is a self-service device that can provide 24-hour convenient services such as deposit, withdrawal and funds transfer for cardholders, and it is also coveted by criminals. Therefore, please pay attention to the following items when using ATMs:

  1. No password is required from you to be admitted into any self-service banking facility. Please do not enter password on any device except self-service devices.

  2. Please highly alert to suspicious attachments or notices on the machine when using your bank card, such as attachments to the card slot, micro cameras, posted transfer notices, and notices with such words as "Malfunction", "Upgrade", or "Maintenance", or "Out of Service", etc. If you find anything suspicious, please do not use the machine and immediately ask the Bank's staff for help or call the Bank's customer service hotline to report.

  3. Please beware of suspicious people around you When using ATMs, and do not accept help from "warm-hearted people" or other people's inquiries, so as not to be distracted and have the card switched or banknotes stolen by criminals.

  4. Before withdrawing money on an ATM, please pay attention to the cash dispenser and the password keypad for modifications or anything unusual. Be careful to cover up the password when inputting it to prevent it from being directly accessed by criminals or by using a camera.

  5. If the ATM does not dispense cash or return the card, please don’t leave immediately. Pay attention to messages on the screen, and don’t trust any phone number posted on the ATM. The Bank has no other consultation phone number other than the customer service hotline. If the card is swallowed, please contact the Bank in time and get the card back according to the regulations.

  6. Please carefully identify bank announcements, don’t trust any phone number posted on the ATM easily, and remember not to believe the announcement asking customers to transfer money to designated accounts. If necessary, seek help from our staff and the customer service hotline or call 110 (Chinese mainland) or local police phone number (Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas).

  7. Please remember to leave ATM with the bank card and banknotes, and make sure that the bank card is your own. In addition, please pay special attention to the different cash withdrawal process in many overseas countries and regions as it’s “card before cash”. ATM transaction receipts should be properly kept or handled and destroyed in time.


Payment at Merchants

Please note the following when using bank cards for payments:

  1. Please do not leave the bank card out of your sight. Pay attention to anything suspicious about the cashier's operation and the device. In case of repeated card swiping and request for entering your password repeatedly, be sure to confirm that there is no duplicate transaction.

  2. When you enter your password, please make appropriate cover and protection to prevent others from peeping. Please keep the relevant mobile phone payment code and verification code and reject any attempt to obtain the password or verification code.

  3. After the transaction is completed, please check whether the card number, amount and currency are correct and confirm that there is no mistake before signing the sales slip. At the same time, remember to retrieve the bank card and transaction receipt and confirm that the cashier has returned your own bank card.

  4. Don’t sign a blank bill or a bill with an incomplete amount. When the signed bill needs to be rewritten due to errors, the store staff can be required to tear up all the original signed bills. Relevant transaction documents shall be properly kept or handled and destroyed in time.

  5. It is suggested to set an on-off switch and a reasonable transaction limit for card payment according to your spending needs and habits.


Risk Prevention

Please also pay attention to the following matters when keeping and using the bank card:

  1. If you find that your card is lost or stolen or any sensitive information has been leaked, you should immediately call the customer service hotline 40089 40089 (Chinese mainland) /+86 755 2583 3688 (Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas) to report the loss. If necessary, you can also call 110 to report the loss, and go to the card issuing bank in person for written loss reporting as soon as possible with valid identity certificates.

  2. Please keep your communication devices available. If there is any change in your personal contact information (e.g. change of contact telephone number, address), please notify the Bank of the change in time.

  3. Please check the relevant transaction notification via SMS and the account statements in time. If you have any unidentified transactions or queries, please contact the Bank immediately.
